Celebration: History
Growing up, I never had the chance to celebrate my birthday. After I started college, some friends began to have little name day celebrations for me as an alternative. The idea of name days definitely wasn't a new one to me, however. Ever since I was little, I had read about name days and been fascinated by the whole concept. I collected lists of name days in other nations and liked using them to learn about other cultures. So my interest in name days has been special to me for two reasons – it allows me to learn more about two of my favorite subjects, etymology and culture, and it also helps to fill a void I always had in my own life.
To my knowledge, there has been no name days fanlisting in the past, so I am glad to finally bring one to the network of fanlistings. I am especially happy to incorporate the name days fanlisting as part of Sobriquets, my general collective of listings related to names.
